I worked at Miovision Technologies full-time
The company has an unlimited vacation policy and what seems to be a fun, young and innovative culture from the outside.
People in technical roles like engineering or product development seem to like the company's culture and operations.
I worked in the Finance group and the reality is that Miovision talks a big talk but doesn't deliver on a good culture, at least to certain departments within the company. Most people within the finance group are extremely overworked and very undervalued. I wasn't able to take more then a couple days off during my entire time there which was 8-9 months. I was working upwards of 70 hour weeks regularly with little to no support and guidance from management. There is too much work to be covered by too few people and an ignorant management team. It's not a coincidence that the turnover in the finance group is incredibly high.
The company tends to applaud and compensate people that don't actually do anything and the hardest working are left to suffer. The company also fired probably at least 10 people during the time I worked there (and the company is less than 140 people to begin with) and in general just gives off a very ruthless culture. I would definitely not recommend Miovision as a good place to work, at least to finance professionals.
Advice to Management
Stop over-paying the useless positions and incompetent people and invest in the right people. Also stop firing people left right and center for seemingly no reason. The company's hiring and firing trends are a joke.
I applied online. I interviewed at Miovision Technologies (Kitchener, ON (Canada)) in February 2017.
Phone interview first with HR was typical. I was asked quickly after that to come for an in person interview. The in person interview seemed unplanned and rushed.
Culture sounded great
Unlimited vacation policy sounded good
Pretty low pay band
No profit sharing or performance based bonus
After in person interview never heard back from the company at all, very unprofessional. Wonder how they treat employees if this is how they treat potential candidates.
Won't apply here again!
