MongoDB is committed to creating opportunities for women in technology by changing the ratio. Through a number of initiatives and partnerships, we aim to encourage diversity, deliver education, and provide inspiration to women and the transgender community. 

FEMALE INNOVATORS AWARD

We invite underrpresewnted groups in technology to attend our conferences through the Diversity Scholarship for events. In 2015 we launched a new initiative, the female Innovators Awards, which grants complimentary tickets to exceptional female technologists.

WOMEN AND TRANS CODERS CHALLENGE 

Our goal is to provide opportunities for women and trans coders to network and build relationships at our events. The Women and Trans Coders Lounge is a space for female-identifying coders at MongoDB World featuring lightning talks by female MongoDB engineers, round table discussions, networking and social events. 

GIRLS WHO CODE

MongoDB supports Girls Who Code, a national non-profit organization that educates, inspires, and equips high school girls with skills and resources to pursue opportunities in technical fields. Downloading the community edition of MongoDB offers users with the option for the Company to donate $1 to Girls Who Code on their behalf

    I have been working at MongoDB full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    MongoDB offers a challenging job in a growing marketing. I am surrounded by super bright, ambitious people. It's very exciting to be working at a technology disrupter. People are fun and good humored. Office is gorgeous and we get all sorts of great benefits such as lunches 2x a week, unlimited snacks, a constant parade of treats "just because", department retreats, discounts to gyms, etc. The real benefit is the fun, interesting work. Management and senior execs are supportive and care about employees. No job is perfect but can't think of a better place.

    Cons

    You have to set your own limits as far as work/life balance. Managers will respect boundaries, but you have to know when to recharge. No one is going to tell you.

    I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at MongoDB.

    Interview

    Multiple steps - Soft skills, Technical skills, combined Soft and technical skills, challenge - two 15 minute presentations on something you know and something you don't know. Phone technical Interviewer came off as knowing arrogant right off the bat with all his knowledge. This one bad apple may turn away some very qualified candidates. All the interviews with the people that had soft skills were great. The one technical interview was the worst ever.

    • Unorthodox - asked questions about Oracle but used SQL Server terminology. Asked technical questions that he didn't know the answer to. Too bad they don't screen their interviewers.   Answer Question
