We have a library of over 20,000 typefaces, the product of the world's most celebrated and gifted type designers. Our library includes some of the most famous and widely-used fonts, such as the Helvetica®, Univers® and Fruitger® typeface families, as well as innovative and experimental fonts from the newest type talent.

  • Design

Design runs deep at Monotype. It’s what we stand for. And, by coupling design and technology, we create meaningful and beautiful experiences for our users and customers. Design should never stand still, so we’re constantly on the alert for new, gifted people to help us move things forward. Our design team is an ongoing collaboration between type designers, web designers, developers and researchers, both inside and outside Monotype.

  • Engineering

Our engineering experts work in small teams to crack interesting problems. Using Agile practices, we develop solutions that leverage a vast range of technologies. For example, we build eCommerce sites such as MyFonts and Fonts.com that make it easier for designers to find and license fonts. We develop embedded software such as the Monotype Spark™ solution to make it easier for designers of wearables and other low-memory devices to use better, more legible fonts on their screens. We’re building web platform APIs that allow our partners to offer more fonts in their design tools. Anywhere that fonts might be needed, we apply technology to create a better, easier experience.

  • Sales

Our sales and marketing team is a talented crew that’s finding innovative ways of communicating the value of type to people working at the crossroads of design and technology. We stage and deliver memorable, transformational event experiences like our Type Reinvented series, the AIGA Century exhibition and TYPO Berlin. We create award-winning publications like The Monotype Recorder to celebrate the art and craft of typography. And we develop webinars and educational eBooks to attract and inspire new customers.



We want our people to work in spaces that are inspiring and liberating. When we refurbished our 42,000 sq ft headquarters in Woburn, Massachusetts, we wanted the design to mirror our brand and reflect our commitment to design and typographic innovation. Our new work spaces in Woburn, New York, and London celebrate the ‘glyph as hero’, with letterforms abstracted through entrances and lobbies, along corridors, and embedded into flooring. We’ve maximized the open floor plan to enable the kind of collaboration and co-creation that Monotype employees enjoy.

    Application

    I applied through an employee referral. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Monotype (Woburn, MA) in April 2016.

    Interview

    I was referred to Monotype by a former colleague. I had an exploratory discussion with the hiring manager several months before the position became available. The actual interview process included a phone screen with both the hiring manager and recruiter, followed by in person interviews that lasted approximately 90 minutes each. The interview had more of a "discussion" format, which I appreciated.
