   I applied online. The process took 4 weeks. I interviewed at Mount Alvernia Hospital (Choa Chu Kang New Town, ) in Dec 2019

   Interview

   Applied via JobStreet, got shortlisted within 2 weeks. Had an interview with the hiring manager, director, as well as the HR rep. It was comprehensive and they shared in details the role and job duties. Everything seemed fine but there was a bit of back and forth regarding the expected salary. Alas, had to settle for a lower pay, lower than my own expected....over the assurance of great medical and leave benefits. Came down to be briefed on the contract signing a few weeks later and went for the medical checkup on the same day. A week after, received a call from HR that all’s good BUT was informed that they won’t be able to cover for my medical bills should I get treated for asthma, which is a pre-existing condition. While I do understand and respect that each org has different insurance policies for employees, I personally find this to be a major shortchange...especially coming from a hospital. And to only inform me at the very end over a call? Why wasn’t this clause briefed during the signing of the contract? So how great are the medical benefits now then? Clearly I won’t be getting the full benefits from the looks of it.
   
   At the end of the day, you have to prioritise what’s best for you and unfortunately MAH’s employment
   package is not able to support that.
