Our team of more than 10,000 employees, 1,600 physicians and 1,000 volunteers is committed to the quality care of our patients and their families. Together, we serve more than a million patients each year. And that number is certain to grow as we invest in our facilities and equipment over the next three years to transform our campuses in a way that will redefine healthcare in central Ohio.

Mount Carmel is dedicated to more than just medical care. We’re dedicated to medical and nursing education and training as well, with six physician medical residency programs and Mount Carmel College of Nursing – one of the largest baccalaureate nursing degree programs in Ohio.

In our effort to provide the highest-quality care, we’ve managed to provide award-winning care, too. Mount Carmel has received many local and national recognition for quality of care, associate and patient satisfaction, community involvement and philanthropy.

Awards, facilities and services aside, we never forget that we’re a community-benefit ministry with a charitable mission. Each year Mount Carmel provides tens of millions of dollars in uncompensated benefits to the community. We’re also actively engaged in the community through business, civic and service organizations, and through our financial support of other not-for-profit organizations and social services agencies.

Mount Carmel is a proud member of Trinity Health, one of the largest Catholic health care delivery systems in the nation.

    Approves of CEO

I have been working at Mount Carmel Health full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The CEO is a winner with a keen eye towards strategic planning and remembering 'why we are here.' Likewise, he is helping to create a culture of open communication, compassion, and a willingness to innovate.

Mount Carmel is a great place for people driven to doing the right thing for the right reasons.

    Cons

There are vestiges of professional culture issues. Some departments are worse than others, but the progress is in the correct direction.

The technology and surroundings are a bit old fashioned, verging on archaic. An overreliance on 'how we did it in the past' versus modernizing.

    Advice to Management

Fix the marketing department. Mount Carmel has a compelling story reaching back 130 years that noone, not even colleagues, knows about. Focus on streamlined centralized communication. The CEO, Ed Lamb, is absolutely the right man for the job to bring the organization into the future. MCHS can absolutely set the standard in a few different ways in the Central Ohio healthcare ecosystem, and we need to do a better job of getting that done.

    Interview

A few days after applying, I was emailed to set up a phone interview. A few days later I had a phone interview that lasted about 10 minutes. I was contacted by HR after that to do a follow up. About a week later I had an interview with the managers for the position. I waited 6 days until I got a phone call from HR offering me the position.
