I worked at Murray County Medical Center full-time (More than 5 years)
Great work/life balance, great pay, flexible scheduling, excellent management and board of directors
As it was a critical access facility, opportunities for career advancement we limited. Many mid level practitioners (PAs and NPs) were prima donna divas who considered themselves real doctors and made a hostile work environment for many employees, myself included.
Advice to Management
Mel Snow was an excellent CEO and administrator. He was a great example of compassion when an employee was in his office crying, an example of willingness to go the extra mile (literally) to pick up physician recruits when arriving 3hrs away late at night and ultimately make the tough decisions and take the heat that goes along with it. Mel Snow embodied what a leader should be.
