We're changing the way people think about work.
"Culture" as it relates to organizations has quickly become a buzz word. But there's a huge difference between companies who offer some perks and companies who offer quality of life. We believe in the latter.
N2 is consistently recognized by big names like Fortune, Inc., and Entrepreneur for our positive company culture and extraordinary growth, but we didn't start out in the news. It all started quite humbly, when our founders, Duane and Earl, dreamed of building a company where success in the workplace didn't compete with success at home. They found the perfect opportunity in an untapped market: neighborhood publications.
To date, N2 has more than 900 publications throughout the nation. That means residents in over 900 communities are living a more connected life, advertisers in these communities are achieving more long-term business with the customers they want, and our N2 sales professionals are experiencing a fuller, freer personal and professional lifestyle.
When you meet someone, you can often learn what's most important to them within the first few minutes. Well, when you meet N2, you'll learn very quickly about our passion for our culture. We spend a ton of energy talking about how work shouldn't be your most important thing; that should be your loved ones, and your work should be second-in-command to them.
That may sound crazy to some, but for us, we're a company centered on people — from our product to our business model — and we couldn't do what we do well if we didn't treat our team right. But our focus on creating and maintaining a positive culture isn't because doing so will bring financial gain. We truly care about our people, and our greatest success as a company is providing them the unique opportunity to love both their work and their life outside of work.
Trey - Area Director in FL
I love working with N2 because it has become a family business. My wife actually does ad management for about four to six publications throughout the U.S., and that gives us the opportunity to work from home and raise our daughter from home. We don't have to worry about daycare. And that has really helped her development. She’s really ahead of the game. Her pediatrician is always impressed. A true part of that is us being at home.
Mike - Area Director in PA
I started with N2 pretty far behind the 8 ball. I was $189,000 in personal debt. This was the only thing short of bankruptcy that I could think of that could get my family out of the situation I had put us in. N2 has completely revolutionized my life. Now, we’re debt-free. We have our house paid off as well. In my life, it’s no longer about the car that I drive or the house that I live in or the vacation I go on. It’s really about who I can bless.
Katie - Sales Director in LA
When people here tell you that their priorities are God, family, then work, they actually mean it. They want you to stop when it’s quitting time and be with your family. I’m a carpool mom, so every day at 3 o’clock, I’m in the carpool line. And your commissions aren’t based on quotas or what you did last year. I make what I work for. I like that I can go out and sell advertisements for a product I’m passionate about, and my sales directly affect my check.

People are often curious how a print media company is not only alive but thriving in the digital age. The answer is simple: Our people make a product that cannot be beat.
We create custom publications that transform places people live into places people love. Our publications give members of exclusive communities the opportunity to learn about their neighbors by reading their stories and seeing photos that are important to them.
The result: quality publications that echo the voice of the neighborhood and reflect the community itself. Throughout the nation, communities who receive an N2 publication find that they know more about their neighbors and feel connected to them in ways that are meaningful and life changing.
I have been working at N2 Publishing full-time (More than 3 years)
My wife and I had talked about working together in business but had no idea what it would look like. We knew we wanted more freedoms with our time and we wanted to be able to raise our kids and not have a daycare do that for us. This was our simple vision 3.5 years ago when we took a leap of faith with N2. In that time we've met many incredible business owners that we work with in the community and residents that love participating in the publication and look forward to getting it each month. The community has really adopted us and we are able to raise our little girl and experience parenting in a way that many people do not get to. After 9 months of being in print with N2 my wife was able to leave her job in HR. And after 12 months of being in print we passed the income of our previous combined salaries. N2 has exceeded our expectations.
The business model is almost as incredible as the people that make up the culture. The support that we have is exceptional as a franchise owner. I really appreciate the N2 Culture Deck and being apart of a company that does what they say they will do and treats people the way they would like to be treated. We truly have ownership over our business with this franchise model and there are many other business models where the business OWNS you!
We don't get to see some good friends very often that my wife and I have made because they live in other parts of the country.
Advice to Management
Let's bring a client appreciation event to the Northwest in 2018 like we recently did in the Midwest to share on a larger level the positive changes that are happening through N2.
I applied through other source. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at N2 Publishing (Bay City, MI) in January 2017.
In total there was 5 interviews.
I applied via LinkedIn and was called by a talent acquisitionist , who directed me to watch a few videos to further determine that I was interested in the position. I watched the video and did my first interview with her.
The talent acquisitionist will approve you to have an interview with a sales director, in my case I was dealing with the Midwest regional director. This is the individual who will be deciding if you are a good fit for N2 Publishing. For all interviews I had called what I call my leader for each interview.
The phone interview process is very laid back, not any on the spot crazy questions at all. A lot of them are questions to determine whether your a good fit for their culture deck and they really want to make sure your a good fit.
I was welcomed to the N2 team on my 5th interview and will be heading to Chicago to train 3 weeks later.
