I worked at NY State Senate full-time (More than a year)
benefits are great and so are the staff, most of the offices have a family environment while still being part of something that is large and making a big difference in world
The salaries could be better and job security is always a huge down side when working with elected officials.
Advice to Management
Give the employees more recognition for the work they do as they are the ones with the boots on the ground
Typical interview, no really tough questions. Just asked about background, education, and past experiences. There were no situational questions or anything too tricky. Then asked about salary and all of that. Definitely read about politic and what is currently going on in New York politics to be able to talk and strike up a conversation on that.
