From the very beginning, military service members have played a tremendous role in our history and culture. It started when our company’s founder, Jack Taylor, answered the call to serve his country in World War II as a naval fighter pilot. Today, military veterans or reservists comprise nearly 10 percent of our U.S. workforce. I worked at National Car Rental full-time
I have worked at National every summer for 3 years and it has been a great experience. It's definitely never boring because there are always things to do. It was a great place to learn for my first job and there is lots of room for growth at the company. The management is very willing to teach those who are eager to learn. It was a great opportunity to learn about the rental car business.
National is busiest on weekends and holidays, so I often worked on weekends. Other than adjusting my schedule, there were no other significant cons.
Advice to Management
Keep teaching those who want to learn. I am very grateful that management was willing to take the time to teach me how the rental car industry operates.
I applied online. The process took 4+ weeks. I interviewed at National Car Rental (Jamaica, NY) in June 2016.
I applied for service agent position. Got the email for the phone interview within minutes of applying. Phone interview was really easy basic questions about my previous employment and details about the position. At the end of the phone call i was offered a interview for the following week. The face to face interview was fairly difficult. Alot of questions based on how you will participate if hired. I was then called back for a second interview for a different position , Full time Greeter. The branch manager felt as if my experience was more customer based. A week and a half went pass and i was offered the job by a HR manager. I then was emailed an offer letter and forms for the background check . I filled them out asap ! The background check consists of criminal and driving records ONLY! Also she contacted two of my previous employers via email as part of a reference check. 6 days later . I was officially offer the job . I start orienration in two days!
