Our Cause at National Life comes down to six words: Do good. Be good. Make good. Those are our corporate values and our touchstone.
We call it our Main Street approach and it's reflected in our Mission, Vision and Values.
It’s in Our
Mission: Keeping Our Promises.
It’s in Our Vision: To Bring Peace of Mind to Everyone We Touch.
It’s in Our Values: Do good. Be good. Make good.
Our Values are grounded in the lives of the people we serve, from Main Street businesses to hard-working families.
At our company, we don’t care how smart or bright someone is; if they don’t fit our culture, this is not the right place for them. Our culture is bigger than individuals; it is tangible and shows up at the top line, bottom line, and every measure in between.
We have a secret sauce, which is our culture. It’s reflected in the way we show up, and the way we care for our clients. That doesn’t mean we’re perfect. We are learning as we go, and we are getting better every day.

I have been working at National Life Group full-time (More than 5 years)
Corporate culture / values - Do Go, Be Good, Make Good, social responsibility and support of the local non-profit community. It's a place where the employees still feel valued. I came from another company several years ago and the difference between a stock market driven company and NLG is huge. I tell long-term employees "they don't know how good they have it".
Employees in the Texas office sometimes feel disconnected from the Vermont office.
I applied online. I interviewed at National Life Group (Montpelier, VT) in May 2017.
The interview process was fairly lengthy about 8 weeks from application to hire date. The interview process was very pleasant, my only complaint is that I interviewed for an entry level position because I was looking to transition out of my current field of work and into life insurance. The hiring recruiter called me and literally said " I wanted to schedule an interview with you, but now that I'm looking at your resume, you seem over qualified and I don't think you would be interested in the position" My mouth dropped , I had never had a recruiter discourage me from applying for a job. That just made me want the job even more, after 3 rounds of phone and inperson interviews, I was continuously asked if I was "still interested in the job" of course I am! that's why I keep showing up for the interviews. I'm about 3 weeks into the job and I love it! That recruiter could have missed out on some good talent if it wasn't for my persistence.
