The location of the plant was a low traffic area. Place would sell products to employees at a discount, nice benefit.
The company ran on fear to motivate most rank and file employees. Management disregarded any good, positive suggestions for improvement from the employees. Learned to keep your mouth shut and cover your self.
Advice to Management
Sincerely, repeat, sincerely treat subordinates with genuine respect. There was a phoniness displayed by two of the owners that did not bide well.
I applied through a staffing agency. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at National Meat & Provision in December 2009.
Originally was e-mailed in March 2009 from Controller to come interview for staff accountant position. Did so. Someone else was hired. In September 2009, more e-mails arrived asking me to apply for credit/collection position. That job was filled by internal staff. November 2009 I was invited for second interview. I was interviewed by Controller and company President. Two employees were in line to be terminated and my position was to absorb both their jobs.
There was a lot of secrecy surrounding my interview since both incumbents were still employed. This should have been a tip off that not everything is open and honest there.
