I worked at New York DMV part-time (More than 10 years)
Good benefits, and good working conditions.
Not enough assistance with angry or rowdy customers.
Advice to Management
Let management assist with difficult situations.
I applied through a recruiter. The process took 1 day. I interviewed at New York DMV (Flushing, NY) in May 2015.
It was part of a city held program called SYEP (Summer Youth Employment Program). It targets 16 to 21 year olds who have June to August off (a total of eight weeks) and is intended to give work experience for those who might not be able to find a job on the regular market. The process was pretty standard, submit an application form, go to the employer of your choosing (mine happened to be the DMV), and then just tell them of your interest in joining their place for the summer. Very easy because no one really wanted to work at the DMV, haha...
