I worked at New York Language Center full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The faculty was educated in the field of ESL and the staff was collaborative.

    Cons

The upper level staff members were not academics and found it difficult to assess students and provide a cohesive curriculum.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at New York Language Center (New York, NY) in June 2012.

    Interview

Anna, the employment manager, asked some basic questions to test my knowledge of ESL and asked about why I wanted the job. Once the inital meeting was over and I was deemed a potential teacher there, I was sent to one of their locations to teach a sample class for 10 minutes. Then I was required to observe otehr teachers for 5 hours in totoal, despite the fact I had previous experience.
