Community Superstar Brian Stone from our St. Petersburg office is a dedicated Coach and Mentor. The Special Olympics are held in many cities across the United States every year. Unfortunately, due to the pandemic, the Special Olympics here in the US and around the globe have been postponed. But for Brian Stone, his Special Olympics chapter in Manatee County, FL is still getting coaching and support despite the pandemic. For Brian, working with the athletes through the Special Olympics is so much fun! Their courage and incredibly positive attitude is uplifting. He also notes the sincere encouragement the athletes show for one another without any sense of embarrassment. It's very different than what he has experienced in coaching and/or teaching any other population. Brian says, "The sense of team is so strong. I can say with confidence that the athletes teach me way more about life, love and being yourself than I could ever teach them about sports."
Staying connected during this pandemic has been a priority for Newport. Last week we had our first corporate Spirit Week. It was a great way to engage with each other and bring some much needed joy to all 25 of Newport's offices. I have been working at Newport Retirement Services full-time (Less than a year)
- Started with a double-digit percentage pay increase compared to previous employer even though I was previously a manager.
- Started with three weeks of vacation per year.
- Able to work remotely three days of the week due to my distance from the office.
- There are definitely periods of increased work and pressing deadlines, but management understands and is willing to work with you to accomplish tasks.
- No formal structured job training for new hires within the team. (some may prefer this though, and each team has different structure)

- So many aspects of running a company and managing positive company culture are being done correctly here. Keep it up!
I applied online. I interviewed at Newport Retirement Services (Folsom, CA).
Corp recruiters are doing their jobs and they asked appropriate questions and phone screening questions. Once they passed you the hiring manager for their department, they are challenging you in every aspects. I feel the hiring manager and the Corp recruiters are working in the opposite directions. I almost wanted to hang up with the hiring manager because of her attitude. Money that they offer for this position and how they challenge you during the interview is not balanced.
