Nextep – Why Work For Us?

I left a publicly-traded PEO in 1996 with a dream of doing it differently. My goal was to give my clients the best of both worlds; the benefits and state-of-the-art technology that large companies have to offer, and the personal service and flexibility that smaller companies deliver. We’ve grown over the years, and we’ll continue to grow, but I’ve never lost sight of that dream. It’s still what I’m passionate about today.
– Brian Fayak

Brian Fayak founded Nextep with little more than a dream and the passion that only a true entrepreneur possesses.

In the summer of 1996, Fayak migrated from the world of a publicly-traded company to a world where he was a one-man organization: the operations team, the sales team, and the owner.

Since those humble beginnings, Nextep has grown to be one of the premier professional employer organizations in the industry, with clients across the country.

Today, Nextep continually performs above industry averages in client retention, and still maintains the entrepreneurial spirit that drove our company from the start. We are exceptionally gratified to have the opportunity to work on an intimate level with business owners who are pursuing their dreams.

These are the standards we hold to be true.

We believe…

  • In answering the phone, smiling at strangers, and drinking good coffee.
  • In technology that’s powerful but also simple and straightforward.
  • In creating great benefits at fair prices.
  • In accuracy and getting it right the first time.
  • When employees are hurt, they should get the help they need immediately.
  • In plain speak; explaining things in understandable terms.
  • In high caliber talent – we won’t settle for less than the best.
  • In creating meaningful relationships with the people we do business with each day.
  • In expertise, because things like taxes are complicated.

Our corporate headquarters are designed with our employees' ultimate comfort and productivity in mind. We're passionate about being a great place to work, all the way from our company's culture to the coffee we drink.

Our people-first attitude extends outside of our workplace, too.

We not only encourage our employees to serve the organizations they’re passionate about, we invite them to do so on company time. In 2018 alone, thanks to the Nextep Gives Back initiative, our employees have generously donated more than 1,000 hours working to empower and enrich the community.

Nextep Gives Back is a non-profit organization devoted to the mission of empowering our employees to elevate the lives of people in need, and to enrich the community in which they live. Learn more about The Nextep Foundation at nextep.com/foundation.

I have been working at Nextep full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My experience at Nextep has been more than amazing. It has truly been a blessing. As I was searching for a position, I did not believe I would find a company like this. The corporate HR Director, my Director and the Executive Team at Nextep have displayed kindness and professionalism throughout the hiring process and my time here. Nextep truly cares about their employees and their well-being.

Nextep provides an incredible culture centralized around talent. We have the best of the best here. Nothing stays still, every day is challenging and an opportunity to learn something new. It is refreshing to have an opportunity to make an impact on smaller businesses.

    Cons

I think there are areas of improvement for every organization and the fact that leadership takes the time to conduct an employee survey and improve based on those results are fantastic. I honestly don’t have any cons.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for everything! Nextep has been an absolute blessing to me and my family. I am truly excited to see what the future holds as we grow and I am so thankful to be a part of the Nextep family!

    Business Consultant Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Denver, CO

    Negative Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through a recruiter. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Nextep (Denver, CO) in April 2015.

    Interview

Had an interview with Recruiter over the phone. On a different day I had a Video interview where I recorded my answer to questions via Video. A week later I interviewed with the local RSM. And finally I had flown to Corporate in Norman Oklahoma and had 2 separate interviews. HR,Marketing and then Senior management VP, Operations. The Recruiter is awesome and so are the HR and Marketing folks but the senior Management have huge EGO issues. They did not set up expectations well for the training process and as a result the senior management were very passive aggressive in their interactions with me. Micro Managers.
