Upper Management were good to work for and seemed to want to improve operations and stood behind internal audit in relation to findings and recommendations. Benefits were excellent.
Internal Auditor reporting structure was counter to standard practice and had the potential to limit the objectivity of the Auditor. Pay was low compared to other internal audit shops in the area. Manager of internal audit did not have a background in internal audit and therefore training and growth were extremely limited.
Advice to Management
Have the Internal Auditor report to someone other than the Treasurer of the company. Increase compensation to match the area in which you operate.
