Mission: Our Mission is to maximize our employees’ potential in order to deliver high-technology Engineering Services and Products, thereby achieving unsurpassed excellence in both client satisfaction and business results.
Achieving both high linearity and high efficiency together in a Radio Frequency (RF) Power Amplifier (PA) system is challenging. Typical designs for highly efficient PAs (i.e., greater than 40% DC power efficiency) involve operating devices in their non-linear range, i.e., at or near compression (saturation). A PA operating in its nonlinear region inherently creates distortion to the RF signal, which results in message or bit errors that hinder overall system performance.
A caring group of patriots founded the veteran-owned NuWaves Ltd. in 2000, providing advanced Radio Frequency (RF) expertise and microwave solutions for military, government, and industrial customers. Headquartered in southwest Ohio, NuWaves Engineering provides quick-tempo design and engineering services that address today’s most demanding RF challenges, especially with regard to hardware size, weight and power (SWaP) reduction, cost and – oftentimes equally important – schedule. NuWaves Engineering is an undisputed leader in the research, design, development, manufacture, integration, sustainment, and modernization of complex RF systems.
As a leader in providing RF solutions, the majority of NuWaves Engineering’s business comes from the U.S. Department of Defense, U.S. federal government agencies, and D.o.D. prime contractors. The majority of our remaining business comes from commercial domestic sales to companies working in a variety of industries and applications, from Industrial Mining, Agriculture, Transportation, Communications, Space, and many more. Take a look at our Markets & Applications to learn more about the industries and customers we serve.

I really enjoy the company culture. I also appreciate the military approach, as though we are focused on accomplishing a mission. I like that it is in the Defense and Military market, and that we are surrounded by people who are all driven. We continue to be on the forefront of what we’re doing with technology. There is a diversity of opinions that are shared, and everyone gets on board to accomplish the goal. NuWaves is unique with its family atmosphere, clear vision, and encourages everyone to work together to reach a common goal.

I love everything about this place. They treat me with respect and support me, personally and professionally. My favorite thing about NuWaves is that I love my job – I love what I do – and I love the people. What sets NuWaves apart from other places is that they care about their employees as though we are all family.
-Chris F., has been with NuWaves for 10 years as a Logistics Specialist
I like the small company environment where we’re results-focused. I like our openness to change. This allows us to continually improve. My favorite thing about NuWaves is there’s always a different challenge every day. What makes this place different than other companies is our attitude towards presenting a solution.
-Thoeun H., has been with NuWaves for 15 years as a Design Engineer
I like working at NuWaves Engineering because we’re a small defense contractor that supports our military. As a small business, we have a great team atmosphere for continuous improvement of our processes and products, as well as for personal growth. We work with a great group of people who are all committed to the overall mission and vision of our company and supporting our customers through every aspect of the products we supply. The diversity of our employees brings a wealth of knowledge and understanding of our industry, and we are dedicated to the organization being a success.
-Angie P., has been with NuWaves for 5 years as an Assembler and IPC Trainer
What I like best about NuWaves is that the people here are extraordinary! Everyone is willing to take the time to explain how processes work or to help you solve a technical problem. They even take the time to sit with you and teach you different techniques that will further your skillset on the bench, in the lab, and help you to become a more valuable, skilled asset to the company. There are many, highly-skilled and intelligent people within the walls of NuWaves who will go above and beyond to help increase your knowledge, skillset, and to help you grow as an individual.
Once you start to acquire more knowledge and skills, this opens the door to work on some pretty sophisticated, and exciting programs here at NuWaves. You will definitely have the opportunity to learn more about a particular system, function of a system, bench skills, gain more technical knowledge and have the opportunity to learn from our highly-intelligent and skilled Engineers and Technicians, and make some outstanding friends as well.

I have been working at NuWaves Engineering full-time (More than a year)
Approachable staff, Casual work environment, Interesting group of people to work with. Excellent place to work with a variety of unique RF design and testing problems. Company is making great efforts to continuously improve their design processes and communications. Upper management is making great strides in reducing inefficiencies in business processes. They are also making a fantastic effort at transitioning from a small to medium business and making sure certain things are lost in the transition. I expect significant growth of the business in the next few years.
Recent training efforts are a fantastic step forward in improving employee skill sets.
CEO is more approachable than he first seems
Hard to get bored
Lower than industry average pay, Project Managers have a lot of control over labor planning which can create some interesting dynamics and a more short sided view of training efforts. There is an expectation of quick turn on projects without much buffer built in. This leads many support engineers and design engineers to put many hours in order to make up for lost time on the schedule.
Occasionally cost cutting measures in certain overhead areas wind up costing more in the long run. Renting test equipment instead of purchasing, push-back on certain overhead items. Though I also believe this area has very recently been recognized and an effort has been made to improve in that area.
Advice to Management
Build in safety nets on schedules with difficult projects and designs and recognize that certain projects while cutting a cost on a unit when it comes to material might lead to significant more issues in test and tune.
I applied through other source. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at NuWaves Engineering (Middletown, OH) in March 2011.
Very nice informal review. Simply looked over the work I had done, asked a few questions. Very nice people. None of the stupid put you on the spot questions. They just analyze your technical background and how you solve problems. So a very nice interview for anyone well qualified. This company is a technical company and your interview will be with well seasoned design engineers, so don't expect to baffle them with bs...it won't work. Instead present what you have done technically and be an ease as they are very nice people to deal with.
They offer an excellent salary. No sweat.
