You get to work with all the wonderful animals on a daily basis. It is a very rewarding job perfect for an animal lover.
The pay isn't very good. You are unlikely to get a raise. It is all to often that you are shorthanded. There is a very high turnover rate.
Advice to Management
If I could give any advice it would be this... please treat your employees a little better and actually hire people when you need them so that your employees aren't constantly shorthanded.Other than that I thought it was a wonderful place to work.
I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at ODAS (Saint Louis, MO) in July 2013.
Admittedly, I was under-experienced -- probably too much for the position of director, but it became clear during the interview that they were in a desperate situation and were looking for a miracle, quite frankly. They wanted someone to raise $100,000/month...I wonder if they ever found that superhero. Besides, it was obvious there were other problems I didn't want to be around.
