Friendly, helpful employees who are always willing to share their opinions and tips. Their advice was especially helpful when considering career choices. There is also opportunity for pursuit of one's own research, which is very rewarding.
My commute was not the most ideal (hour or more by car) but that was really the only negative experience besides the process after the initial hiring. Entry into the government as a federal employee took a long time.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you are doing. The administration was very friendly and enjoyable. There was always prompt, open communication about meeting deadlines.
I applied online. I interviewed at ORAU (Oak Ridge, TN).
It's a joke. Managers not skilled in the process and leaves the selection process up to employees not qualified to make the selection. The company is losing out on getting talent but allowing those employees to make the decisions. They are not skilled in interviewing, recruiting, or selecting highly qualified individuals. The managers feel threatened.
