Friendly, helpful employees who are always willing to share their opinions and tips. Their advice was especially helpful when considering career choices. There is also opportunity for pursuit of one's own research, which is very rewarding.
My commute was not the most ideal (hour or more by car) but that was really the only negative experience besides the process after the initial hiring. Entry into the government as a federal employee took a long time.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you are doing. The administration was very friendly and enjoyable. There was always prompt, open communication about meeting deadlines.
I applied online. The process took 6+ months. I interviewed at ORAU (Oak Ridge, TN) in January 2017.
Called for 2 onsite interviews....first round of interviews was with hiring manager and HR manager. Second round was 2 panel interviews. Emailed HR manager after some time passed since the 2nd round of interviews to inquire about the job and if any decision was made. Never received a response. That is totally rude and unprofessional.
