Working the graveyard shift was tough
I applied online. I interviewed at Ochsner Health System.
Applied online. HR contacted me via e-mail and asked that I select a time to talk about the position. I did so based on their availability within that system. HR said that was not a good time and asked me to pick another within a time frame. I did, but the hour I picked was not a good one. I went with the next suggested time they had available. A few days after, HR called - extremely short interview. IMO, interviews are a two-sided platform in which both parties are investing in asking /answering one another's queries to determine if there is a fit. Details on this position were vague despite my probing. Very little was asked of me other than experience, salary requirements (unclear if this was a screening call or interview at this point) and when I would be able to start if selected. I asked several questions and had many more, but HR rep was economical in candor and answers. I sensed this was a formality and I was not really being considered. Hard to tell. The phone call lasted about 5 minutes for HR, I pushed it for a few more as I wanted to know about this position. It can be defeating to prepare for an interview and excited - and to be met with extreme brevity & little else. HR is the front door and integral reflection of the company for whom the work - and it helps when they are engaging. Difficult to know if this is a case of meeting EOE formality standards - or merely their standard method of engagement with candidates. Big prep for my limited time allotment.
