Octagon – Why Work For Us?

WHERE OTHERS SEE COMPLEXITY, WE SEE POSSIBILITY.

Octagon is the global sports, entertainment and experiential marketing arm of the Interpublic Group. But if that classification doesn’t do it for you, and it shouldn’t, let’s take it a step further.

We are what we believe. And we believe that while the world of sports and entertainment is full of opportunities and possibilities, sometimes the amount of choice can seem a little overwhelming. Even daunting.

That’s where we come into play.

At Octagon we inspire brands, talent, and our people to see the world for all its potential. We then help break down the complexity and push forward so you can make your next right move.

Sponsorship Consulting

We make sure your brand is in the right place, at the right time to leverage the passion fans have for sports. Our data-driven approach ensures our clients are paired with the right properties to hit their objectives and target audience. We bring +30 years of experience and relationships to the negotiating table and manage rights and assets with an unrivaled understanding of every major global property. And then we bring it to life, using our brains and creativity to create inspired activations and bold experiences.

Experiential Activation

We bring great ideas to life for our clients. And as a result we create unique and memorable experiences for their consumers too. We always make sure the ideas we bring to life fit perfectly into how fans are consuming, creating and experiencing their passion for sports and entertainment.

Event Management

We produce world-class events, that in turn, produce world-class results. Our team successfully creates and manages events that harness the power of passion by providing an unparalleled consumer experience that attendees will appreciate, share and, most of all remember.

Content & Creative

We are storytellers. We make great content and creative that earns the right attention. Whether it’s above, below or straight through the line, we’ve got it covered. For us ‘integrated’ isn’t a buzzword. It’s who we are. Starting with solid planning and strategy, our teams work with clients to develop campaigns, experiences and branded content that resonate and grab the attention of an ever-distracted audience.

Digital & Social Media

Our dedicated digital and social media team boasts curiosity as its number one super-power (in fact, they have a few). Our collective of strategists, designers, project managers and developers attack everything from web development to event registration & lead management, social media strategy to live digital experiences, all backed by real-time analytics.

 Celebrity Strategy

Celebrity strategy begins with WHY, HOW and WHEN, then WHO. We start by defining/prioritizing program objectives, understanding brand attributes and determining the tactics of the program. We then discuss celebrity value vs. budget while identifying an initial talent list. We conduct research, competitive analysis and do our due diligence on talent candidates to make sure we are using the best person for any given program. Once we have selected the ideal talent for a program, we will negotiate on behalf of the brand in order to receive the best deal possible while including all necessary service items. Finally, we manage the program throughout its execution, and report key learnings and best practices back to the client.

Insights

Our insights into sports, entertainment and culture are rooted in data and enhanced through experience. Our global team taps into a wide range of proprietary and syndicated data to unearth insights that drive portfolio and activation strategies. We are so dedicated to finding the right next move for our clients that we’ve created Passion Drivers® to quantify why fans are fans and the Passion Shift™ to understand how interactive fans consume sport across digital, social and mobile.

Measurements

We know that business results are what matters most.  We create custom ROO and ROI frameworks that help our clients access the information necessary to build a business case.  We also build measurement dashboards and post-program analyses that allow our clients to make data-based decisions that help them manage, measure and maximize the return on their sponsorship investment.

Merchandise

We all know by now that where there’s an event, there’s merchandise. We apply our licensing expertise across all major sports and entertainment properties to develop promotional merchandise solutions that increase brand visibility, leverage sponsorships, engage consumers and reward employees.

Mindset & Culture

Today, the traditional boundaries that once defined “targeted marketing” no longer apply. Engaging diverse consumers solely on the basis of race, age, geography, gender identity or socio-economic status is truly a thing of the past. Instead, we specialize in connecting with consumers on the basis of a shared Mindset & Culture. Our quest to know and better understand what motivates these diverse consumers is “always on” – and we use that knowledge to deliver marketing solutions the effectively connect consumer passion to brand passion.

We Think. We Blink. We Create. We are Nice.

Our values. These guide our behavior and help provide a filter for finding the next generation of the Octagon Family.

Think.

We never apologize for smarts. We come to the table with ideas, and the analysis to back them up. We consider fresh alternatives.

Blink.

We err on the side of action. We accept that things will change. Scratch that, we are the people or team that changes things.

Create.

We make it happen.

Be nice.

We respect others. We embrace diversity. We do the right thing. Always.

WE BELIEVE IN TREATING OUR PEOPLE LIKE, WELL PEOPLE.

We do amazing things.

The Super Bowl, March Madness, the Olympics, NBA All Star Game, Wimbledon and French Open – to name a few.

We host a good game.

Summer hours, beer cart, ping pong, pool, happy hours, remote work options, community service and partnerships, monthly socials, yeah, we do it all.

We take care of our team.

We don’t just look after your paycheck, we look after the ‘whole’ you. That means health benefits, savings plans, wellness programs, employee discount and reward programs.

We want to see you succeed.

We are invested in your growth.  We create opportunities for internal mobility, mentorship program, professional learning and career development.

We are a family.

When it comes to our team of 800+, we are passionately dedicated to ensuring that we recruit and hire diverse talent. The diversity of our employees and service offerings not only provide for a richer work experience, but also enable us to create content and experiences that reach an increasingly diversified consumer base.

We focus on attracting individuals who have the motivation to come up with bold concepts that help our talent and brand clients make their next right move. That means rethinking the traditional and engaging disruptors, movers and shakers, and go-getters with a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.

Our environment strives to uphold the highest levels of inclusiveness and we welcome the introduction of new thoughts and ideas to continue to help us define “What’s Next?”.

For the past two years, Octagon has been the recipient of IPG’s Inclusion Award for our Communication and Education programming. The award – which is open to all IPG agencies -recognizes Octagon’s efforts to communicate diversity and inclusion themes and provide effective education platforms for our teams.

Here’s what our employees have to say about Octagon’s commitment to Inclusive Diversity - I'm In!

WHAT'S YOUR NEXT MOVE? IS IT ON OUR EVENTS TEAM?

I was emailing back and forth with the core members of the staff. I was then brought into the office to discuss the role with the team. I was then offered the position.
I was able to get an interview through someone at my company who knew the tournament staff.
