The potential for higher education, promotion, mobility to different jobs within the system. Numerous employee support programs. Employee input into policy and procedure. Nursing union to promote fair practices.
Management. Staff to patient ratio was high for the acuity level of the patients. The potential to be mandated several days in a row to obtain adequate staffing levels. More autonomy would be a benefit. Parking was a daily issue.
Advice to Management
Less of a dictatorship and more of a democratic process when it comes to unit issues. Give employees an equal opportunity for select positions and base it on qualifications. Selection tends to be based on who you know opposed to your qualifications. Management is intimidated by subordinates who have higher degrees than they do and tend to try to keep them from moving up.

Interview with IT team asking about previous experience and knowledge of computers. Asked about how I would deal with certain situations such as tough users and delayed projects. Then got a background check and had to go through HR for more questions. Process took about a couple months. Found the job on the university student jobs site.
