    Software Engineer Interview

    Positive Experience
    Easy Interview

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Olive (Columbus, OH) in August 2015.

The whole process was refreshingly speedy. I had two phone interviews, one with a recruiter and one with the VP of Engineering, then was given a choice between two coding problems. The coding exercise was more in-depth than any I've ever encountered, but I had a lot of fun with it and felt like I had really accomplished something when I finished it.

I was invited to the building just a few days later, where I talked to the leader of the team that I would be joining. The in-person interview was milder than many others; I'd say that it was more of a check for cultural fit than anything.

There was one final in-person interview, which involved giving a pitch to the CEO of the company. I was put off by the concept when I first heard about it - being able to pitch a product or business idea doesn't seem to be a necessary skill for a Software Engineer - but I'd say it was more of a test of creativity and communication ability than anything.
