Best Places to Interview: 2017 (#90)
I worked at Olive Garden Italian Restaurants part-time (Less than a year)
Management is awesome( even with what the company allows you guys went above and beyond to help me and anyone else who needed you, hearts of gold)
Coworkers were great to work with
The franchise itself allows management to work with you in difficult times( which to me is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen! It really was like family helping family)
Training was fun food and wine tasting
After a year and x amount of averaged per week. You get:
Great 401 k program
BCBS MEDICAL INSURANCE
And a whole list of things I don't remember, I'm sure.
Training program could use some work
Teamwork development could use work
Reduction of obstacles(dishes, things being restocked, roles and side work being established)
The food has changed and doesn't give the same wow as it did when I was younger, bland or replacement items for old recipes are strange.
Advice to Management
You're amazing and thank you for what you did for me while I was there. It really broke my heart to have to leave. Was great working with you guys. If I could advise anything from a server standpoint would be to be more adamant about between shift side work and the cleanliness of dishes. Also I understand about picking up bad habits but people are going to be go who they are no matter if you show them the way. But being effective and efficient on the floor and knowledgeable of things from a I know what to do in x situation is important and doesn't allow the guest to suffer from a new server having to wait to figure out what they're doing. Overall it was probably the best work experience of my life. And I am grateful for the compassion shown to me while I was there because you didn't have to.
