Mission: To deliver exceptional recruitment solutions to local and international partners, whilst enhancing the careers of our candidates.
Happy 2nd Anniversary to the OJ Milan office. We hope you enjoyed celebrating in the Alps. A hugely successful team deserves its just rewards!
From day to night, this year's OJ summer party at Mottram Hall was on another level! Thanks to all who came from across our European office network.
First and foremost we are an organisation of professional recruiters that offer a consultative and professional service to our clients. We operate in competitive recruitment markets where demand for the best candidates with the right skills outstrips the supply. Our recruitment success depends on our ability to see past the limited supply of active candidates and find the right people even if they are not looking for a job. We pride ourselves on our recruitment skills, proactive search methodology, technical vertical market knowledge, commercial acumen of financial markets, strong relationship-building skills and good business brains in order to be commercially savvy. Our business consists of extremely level headed professionals who are amiable, mature and above all, extremely focused and determined to be successful. Oliver James Associates retains talent through fairness and by reinvesting into our employees and business. Our Consultants have typically joined from a range of other market leading professional recruiting firms, seeking a better performing business that can develop their talents and earning potential more effectively. We recognise that our business success is built on our people and that they are our foundation and future.
All of our offices are in the heart of the city and offer a bright and modern working environment.
I have been working at Oliver James Associates full-time (More than 3 years)
- International opportunities
- Open lines of communication directly with CEO's (as a side note, they also know everyone's names and genuinely care about each employee, globally)
- Great office environment, inclusive atmosphere.
- Exciting growth plans - new offices to open, promotions available at all levels.
- Excellent training/L&D team! training is tailored to each individual not one size fits all. They genuinely invest in everyone's' development.
- Strong branding and one of the best reputations in the market.
- Extra long lunches for gym goers, happy hours on Friday, company trips (miami, cancun.....) sponsored team nights out, incentives throughout the year and quarterly lunch clubs!
- One of the best commission structures in the industry.
Granted, recruitment isnt for everyone, its tough, you're dealing with a two way sales process and people making major life decisions and that's not always easy. That said, the only cons of working here are the ones which are generic across the recruitment industry as a whole. Of course there are long hours and a little stress - this is a sales environment and you'd be hard pushed to avoid those things if you want to be successful in any highly competitive environment. To offset this, OJ push to keep moral high and the sales floor as energised and positive as possible - those claiming otherwise should perhaps try and be part of a solution rather than the perceived problem.
Advice to Management
Keep doing what you're doing and ignore the negative reviews. Keep investing investing in your people and developing your team leaders and mangers so they can continue to support and develop their reports and ultimately keep smashing it, together! Our growth plans are exciting and the future is bright here at OJ and I wouldn't want to be anywhere else!
I applied through a recruiter. The process took a week. I interviewed at Oliver James Associates (New York, NY).
Video Conference / Phone calls - 3 stages with Country MD and Group MD. The company culture seems excellent from the outside, very efficient, nice modern offices and great processes and infrastructure in place. Quite honestly they already seem to have the infrastructure if not the depth of one of the big players in recruitment. OJ are quite specialist rather than recruiting anything and everything.
Ultimately I declined as I already had experience in this kind of setting and felt I wanted more autonomy, particularly over working hours. It just wasn't a good match but if this was my first recruitment job I would have accepted for sure.
