I worked at Olympic Steel full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company to enter the business with great benefits.
Very knowledgeable and intelligent executive leadership.

    Cons

Low pay and employs are not rewarded for their performance. Basically, a cost of living increase if you are above average.
Local management tend to focus to satisfy their own local needs and not the needs of the corporation. Divisions don't work well with one another.
Company has grown substantially and seems to have lost the focus of the employs (used to be family-like, not anymore).

    Advice to Management

Find a way to make division work better with one another. This will start with getting control of your GMs.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Olympic Steel (Cleveland, OH) in March 2016.

    Interview

Brief, less formal, pleasant interviewers. I was interviewed by employees and managers. Phone interview initially, then I was called in for an inperson interview in which I spoke to 4 people same day . I received a phone call with an offer 2 days later.
