I worked at Omniplan as an intern (Less than a year)
I worked at OMNIPLAN full-time for the summer as an intern and I loved it. Everyone there treated me seriously and gave me opportunities to learn about every aspect of architecture. They were always willing to teach me and gave me every chance to try something new and different. I felt very lucky to have that experience as a college student because I came back to school with a much greater understanding of the field and what I wanted in my future. I'd say it showed me what it meant to truly enjoy working.
The only downside I can think of from working at OMNIPLAN is that now my expectations for my next job are going to be very high. While I was only an intern, whenever I had an idea about how something might work better or more efficiently, they listened to me and took me seriously. Both I and OMNIPLAN benefited from my time there this summer.
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Omniplan (Dallas, TX) in July 2015.
I was referred to Omniplan by a current employee. Initial informal interview was administered by Principal of Design and Design Leader. Initial interview consisted of learning more about my current position and skills and learning more about the firm as a whole to see if the firm was a good fit for me and I was a good fit for the firm. Second interview was the following week after the initial interview. Second interview as administered by two design leaders and three of the company’s principals. Interviewers had already reviewed both my resume and portfolio which was a welcome change to the other interviews I had been on where interviewers had never looked at anything I had sent. Instead of going through my entire portfolio during the interview it allowed more time to discuss the specific aspects of the projects that I was a part of and discuss my current abilities and skills. Also, allowed more time to discuss the way in which Omniplan currently operates and how I could fit into the organization.
