Technical Account Manager

Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

    -Lean team means you get opportunities you would not at a larger organization -Encouraging management eager to provide professional development -Incredible inter-departmental communication; you get to know and learn from everyone in the company -Thoughtful and humble servant leadership from the c-suite -Diverse and inclusive team; such a wide range of backgrounds leads to unexpected and impactful innovation -Phenomenal product and inspiring clients; you will feel good about what you're selling/marketing/developing/supporting because the company is genuine about helping public K-12 educators -Great perks and benefits!

    Cons

    If you're looking for super established processes and firm directions, this may not be the best fit. OnCourse has this amazing fail-fast culture where they are always iterating and fine-tuning. This kind of space can be an opportunity to leave your fingerprints but it could also be frustrating for someone who is used to firm structure.
