I worked at OneBeacon Insurance Group full-time (More than 10 years)
Can be a nice place to work with great people decent pay and benefits. Farmington office has modern desks with the option to switch easily from sitting to standing.
Not much in the way of advancement opportunities unless you are in the clique of favorites. Very small bonuses unless you are in the upper echelon. CEO used to be great but sudden changes in values and culture caused many to jump ship and go to competitors. They continue to eliminate positions in all departments periodically without warning although they do provide a generous severance package.
Advice to Management
Be cognizant of employee morale if you want to keep valuable underwriters. Explore redeployment options before sentencing talented people to the chopping block.
I applied online. I interviewed at OneBeacon Insurance Group.
Initial screening interview via phone. Very laid back, general questions asked and recruiter was very nice. She followed up quickly to schedule an in person interview. That last about one hour and was also laid back. Overall a good interview experience. Met with three people during the in person interview and all asked similar questions. Great emphasis on multitasking for this role and dealing with different personalities.
