Members text/call one another when they detect the employer has Mystery Shoppers out and about. If you weren't doing anything wrong you would resent the Mystery Shoppers the way your membership does.
Professional bullies who like to pick on individuals with disabilities.
Advice to Management
You won't gain much public support for an LCBO strike due to how employees treat the Mystery Shoppers. They figure out who they are and text/call one another to notify the other stores when they think the Mystery Shoppers are out. Mystery Shoppers make $12 a shop. No gas money. They only get $5 back for their purchase. So $17. total doesn't even cover what they are supposed to spend. They have to have a smart phone, travel, and sometimes can spend two hours on their report. It is a pittance compared to what the LCBO employees make and LCBO employees should not begrudge the fact that Mystery Shoppers are out there. There are a few companies Mystery Shopping for LCBO. One Manager was very passive aggressive toward a Mystery Shopper and then yelled. The Mystery Shopper has autism and is high functioning and you wouldn't know right away. The person is just trying to get some job skills and experience. This poor young person with autism now won't come out of their room. The person has a visible disability too but the autism is upset due to the demeanor of the LCBO store manager who made an inaccurate assumption. All the others were great but this one just wanted to pick on someone and found a victim. She doesn't know that was the Mystery Shopper. Picking on those at the bottom of the scale is low. Congratulations OPSEU picking on those with disabilities. Not cool.
