Mission: Our mission is to build decision automation and optimization solutions that increase efficiency in the transportation and logistics industry. We help businesses reduce operational costs, increase their profitability and improve service quality by using our software.
Changing the world requires a team that’s excited to take on the challenge. There are nearly 300 Optymers around the world - from the Sunshine State and the Armenian Valley to the tropics of Asia and the beaches of Western Australia. We are experts in a variety of disciplines, including computer science, operations research, data analytics, graphic and UI/UX design, product development and, of course, transportation and logistics.
We smile when passing a freight truck hauling 10,000 tons of refrigerated produce on the highway. When our flight taxis out of the gate and takes off on time. When we watch the train rumble down the tracks as we wait on the safe side of the railroad crossing sign. When our hard work helps companies move people and products around the world more efficiently.

Even with the smartest, hardest-working team members around, a company cannot succeed without a solid set of core values at its heart. Every action we take is guided by our values, fostering an environment of accountability, ownership, trust, curiosity, respect and confidence. We believe that applying these values to our efforts every day enhances the lives of our clients, our colleagues and our communities.
Make diversity an integral part of your success.
We have the obvious demographic and cultural diversity, but we also have a diversity of skills and ways of thinking. We look at the world in different ways and find a sense of unity in combining our eclectic backgrounds to serve our customers, our families and our community.
Meet business needs, not only business requirements.
It’s one thing to fulfill a list of requests. It’s another thing to know what a client truly needs. There are solutions beyond business requirements that, with a little imagination, yield results well beyond a company’s expectations.
Listen patiently, think creatively, deliver efficiently.
Listening is about opening our minds and hearts in order to understand a client’s point of view. With the knowledge gained from listening, we can put our creativity to work and provide results in a timely manner. Being agile in our work allows us to develop solutions in tandem with our clients.
Treat everybody as you want to be treated.
We extend every team member the same amount of respect, kindness, professionalism and friendship. We put ourselves in our clients’ shoes and treat their projects with the same care that we would treat our own.
Nurture your relationships with loyalty and trust.
Clients trust us with decisions that affect millions of dollars, so we must be honest in every aspect of our work – from the code we use in our products to the communication we have with our customers. We also trust each other, even across continents, to do our best as experts in our individual spheres of excellence.
Foster the spirit of innovation and excellence in everything you do.
We bring creative thinking from the academic world to modern day business and ensure that our work is of the highest quality in every way. The synergy of innovation and excellence is a powerful force to create the best solutions for our clients.
Have a passion for and sense of ownership in your work.
We don't just sell products and services – we develop and design our solutions as if we're going to be the ones using them, leading us to build great products and provide quality services. We take pride in our work because what we do is a reflection of ourselves.
Measure twice, cut once.
We strive for a balance of quality and efficiency, so we build and design our software with proper planning and foresight. Good planning takes a little time now, but it saves a lot of time later.
Create wealth and share it.
There’s a saying in India: “If you share what you eat, it tastes sweeter.” We share our wealth with everyone in the company and throughout our community because everyone’s support and hard work help create it and make our home a better place.
Ask, don’t assume.
Whether we’re working with clients or teammates, it never hurts to make sure we clearly understand what they need. Even when we think we know the whole story, we ask questions and listen to their answers. There may be new details that could drastically change our approach.

I have been working at Optym full-time
Unlike a lot of large companies where one's impact tends to be low, Optym provides a lot of opportunity for any individual to create impact within the organization. It solves relevant, real-world problems on a large-scale in turn creating a lot of meaningful and challenging work for the employees. Team members are well-compensated and company offers great perks like free snacks, weekly team lunches, monthly team building budgets and an annual company retreat with significant others. Overall, great place to work!
Projects can sometimes require long hours but teams tend to be self-driven and self-motivated to put in the work as it is both interesting and meaningful.
Advice to Management
Always keep improving
I applied through college or university. The process took 5 weeks. I interviewed at Optym in October 2014.
Hiring process is pretty tough, perhaps the toughest technical interview I have given so far. I applied on campus.
1. Had to take two written test for 3 hours each. Focused on graph algorithms and logical reasoning questions and some coding exercise.
2. Interviewed next day on-campus (first interview). Asked only algorithms, they did not ask me to code or anything. Questions started with easy ones like print the word that occurred maximum number of time in a string (I used hash map), validate an expression (I used stack), find a number in a sorted matrix. Also, I was asked runtime for all.
3. Talked to CTO who invited me onsite in Gainsville, Florida.
4. Written test for 3 hours.
5. Seven round of interview for half an hour each. YES SEVEN!!!
6. Interview questions related to graph algorithm, prim algo, dijkstra shortest path, network flows, knapsack, dynamic programming etc.
7. Talked to CEO who extended the offer. He is polite and courteous.
I got the offer within one week of the final round.
Great team of individuals. Very intelligent and learned. It is a great office to learn and grow.
