I worked at Orchard Supply Hardware (More than a year)
For the most part, it is a friendly environment. Coworkers get along and try to help each other out. There is some room for growth.
Micromanaged like crazy. No one likes to help out at the registers and they won't hire more cashiers so it gets backed up quickly and you get angry customers.
The location I was at seemed to attract a lot of snobby and angry customers.
Advice to Management
Hire and schedule more cashiers. I've had many people leave angry because lines were too long and one person can't handle it.
I applied online. The process took 3 weeks. I interviewed at Orchard Supply Hardware (Monterey, CA).
I applied online and then got an initial phone interview a week later. I think it was corporate offices, they asked simple questions about experience and availability. Then I got an offer to interview with the store manager. It took around 10 minutes and included typical retail interview questions. The manager was very friendly and polite in the interview. It took another few weeks to get a call back with an offer.
