I have been working at Oxford Global Resources full-time (Less than a year)
One of the best decisions I've made in the last 5 years was taking this job at Oxford.
Coming on board I really got the sense of family, and that the team is there to set you up for success- from the corporate training staff, local branch management, and even co-workers who will technically become competitors in the same field one ramped up. There's a positive energy, but one that's not cut throat or stressful- I never feel pressured like you would expect in a sales environment. Apparently it wasn't always this way, but recent changes within the company have altered the ways of running the business to promote a better work life balance and positive culture. As a culture stickler, I couldn't be happier!
There's a lengthy and thorough training plan that really dives deep into how to be successful in this space- and it's proven over and over with the people who have actually stuck it out and stayed. Mostly they train on the sales aspect, this is a critical piece. But there's also a fair amount of technical training on terms, industry, and how to see the difference between one resume and the next when it comes to skill set. This takes time when you're not technical yourself, but there's great resources available, even within the tenure in the local office. Seeing the payouts from those who have stayed for even 5 years, it's impressive how much you can reap when you put in the effort and stay focused. Training was important to me, and I definitely was not disappointed.
Since I started, many major improvements have taken place within the company such as a new streamlined database tracking system, new expense reporting system, better PTO policy and work life balance initiatives, as well as awesome new recruiting tools and resources (weekly free trainings!) It's clear the company is growing and cares to keep employees engaged in the long run.
We also participate in volunteer days (usually just a few hours). It's nice to have local employees plan events like this within our community where we get together as a team to give back.
Overall- this is not your typical insane run you into the ground and come out the other side broken and stressed kind of job. This is a place where you can learn valuable recruiting skills at a quality boutique recruiting firm within a hot market place, make loads of money, and literally look forward to coming into work day in and day out.
Base pay isn't great, but this incentivizes you to building up your database of consultants so you can fill roles quickly and start earning commission.
Advice to Management
Local management: Keep it up- you're doing a great job setting new Recruiters up for success. Your patience, confidence and support is very appreciated. Sr Staff- Thank you for making so many wonderful improvements to the infrastructure, recruiting tools, and policies. Let's keep growing!
I applied through an employee referral. The process took a week. I interviewed at Oxford Global Resources (Madison, WI) in May 2017.
Really amazing experience! Super positive, energetic people who LOVE their job but didn't sugarcoat the challenges at all. They were straight up that it's a great company with great growth potential and earning potential but that I'd have to be patient and work my butt off to pull in clients and consultants.
