Mission: Free our communities to worry less and live more.
Our PEMCO team headed to Ruckersville, Va., last week to test out the latest auto crash-prevention technologies at the Insurance Institute of Highway Safety/Highway Loss Data Institute. Our VP of Operations, Harris Clarke, led us to learn more about how features like forward collision warning systems, auto emergency braking, curve-adaptive headlights, parking sensors, and blind spot warning systems are making cars safer.
Our team, including VP of People & Brand MJ Vigil, other PEMCO leaders, and community agents, also got a close-up look at crash testing and delved into the effects these new safety systems are having on claims. Thanks, Harris, for hosting our immersion!
PEMCO encourages voting: We're already known for award-winning customer service, and now we want to be known for more -- for making a meaningful difference. All of us at PEMCO -- including CEO Stan McNaughton, CFO Steve Ricco, and Government Affairs Director Dan McGrady -- are actively working to ensure every voice is heard.
Things to love about PEMCO
There’s big work to be done. Our size allows us to be agile, and we take pride in how our individual efforts directly impact our Northwest customers and communities. We’re a mutual insurance company, which means we’re owned by our customers. People are the heart of our business.
Challenging and proactive. Future-focused. Purpose-driven. Be valued for the ideas, skills, and creativity you bring to work each day. We’ll always be a work in progress, but it’s the collaboration and ideas of our people that inspire us.
Enjoy a work life that fits with your personal life thanks to flexible scheduling, technology that allows you to work from anywhere, and paid time off. Plus, we put the focus on your wellbeing with onsite fitness centers, healthy food options, and wellness resources.
With a 200% 401(k) match, education assistance program, a company-wide incentive plan, and a variety of leadership and development opportunities, we help you invest in life’s journey and stay skilled for the future.
We care deeply about our community and want to make an impact. You’re encouraged to donate your time, treasure, and talents to local nonprofits, and you’ll receive paid time to volunteer for causes meaningful to you.
We offer competitive pay and benefits, including generous medical, dental, prescription, and vision coverage for you and your family. We also offer life and disability coverage, commuter subsidies, children’s scholarships, and of course, discounts on PEMCO insurance.
Meet our #PEMCOpeople
Jessica S., communications manager: Jessica tackles projects that help us strengthen our relationships with customers, employees, prospects, and the general public – everything from designing our social media strategy and improving our customer letters, to mastering the art of making insurance – a terribly unexciting topic – interesting and easier to understand. The best part of her job? She says it’s when she gets to forward her co-workers screenshots of the kudos they’ve received from our customers.
Amy J., quality assurance analyst: Amy ensures that the experience our customers have online and through self-service channels are free from issues and always picture perfect – down to the tiniest pixel! Her favorite thing about PEMCO? The people and culture. “The passion and compassion of those around me always inspires me to bring my best to work.” We first met Amy when she was part of our summer internship program, and we’re so fortunate she chose PEMCO as place to land and take off running!
Jon P., workforce supervisor: Jon’s role is critical in helping employees serve our customers – he’s continually monitoring workloads and staffing levels to make sure we have the right mix of employees working together, with the right set of skills, at the right time. Jon loves basketball (he always carries one in his car in case a court calls his name) and usually captains a PEMCO team for Spokane Hoopfest. His favorite thing about working at PEMCO? The people.
Logan. T, sales & service operations analyst: Logan uses data (and lots of it!) to improve the customer experience. . After interning at PEMCO while in college, we’re lucky Logan chose to join our team again! His favorite thing about PEMCO? Our culture, and knowing that every day, our customers can depend on us – and we can depend on each other – to support changing needs.
Andrea H., underwriting channel manager: Andrea’s been at PEMCO for nearly 30 years, and as she describes it, she “grew up” working at PEMCO, developing professionally and personally in her many roles. We’re fortunate she’s chosen to grow with us through the years! Her motto? Be thoughtful, cherish each day, and do it now (whatever your “it” is) – her mindset is to not have anything “pending,” but to just get it done.
Seth M., web producer: Seth’s part of the creative engine behind designing and building much of what our customers interact with on our website and mobile app. For the past five years, he’s helped turn idea after idea into reality for our teams at PEMCO. His mindset is to “learn something new every day,” and he certainly impresses us often with his innovations to web design!

Advice to Management
In attempting to benchmark with competitors, the company will need to be intentional to protect its attractive culture, work-life balance (appropriate staffing and workload levels), and supportive management and leadership, in order to retain and attract the best talent
I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PEMCO Insurance (Seattle, WA).
