    Positive Outlook

I have been working at PHI - Louisiana full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company will go out of its way to protect and help their pilots. Safety is not only talked about but the main focus. Declined flights due to weather, or unsafe areas of operations are backed readily. Pay is good, but like any place could improve. No matter your experience level there are plenty of experienced pilots to draw from when you question your flight for any reason.

    Cons

Being from the North West..the Heat and humidity will flat try to kill you. You can work and enjoy what you do, taking all that comes with it, or you can complain(alternate word starts with a B). Those that B about everything tend to draw negative results. I have noticed that you take what you give from this job. Stay positive, and roll with the changes and tough moments...in the end..your getting paid well to fly well maintained helicopters.

    Advice to Management

Try to spend a day a month on the line, and in the flight line of the light ships...so you don't forget the circus we deal with off shore. The off shore circus is not the same as the well polished machine you observe from the ground on PHI bases.

    Helicopter Pilot Interview

    Anonymous Employee in Lafayette, LA
    Accepted Offer
    Positive Experience
    Difficult Interview

    Application

I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at PHI - Louisiana (Lafayette, LA) in November 2014.

    Interview

You'll hear nothing from PHI and they'll o0ffer no updates when you apply. IF they want to talk to you, you will be invited to an interview, usually with the training department manager. He will want to see if you are what you claim on your resume by asking questions that would weed you out from complete fakers.

    Interview Questions

    • They will ask you questions about US airspace operations and detailed questions about the VFR sectional chart.   1 Answer
