If there's a single phrase to describe PTC's new global headquarters in the Boston Seaport, it's employee-centric. Decisions on workspaces, building amenities, even the location itself, were made to promote overall employee health and wellness, as well as improve accessibility, drive productivity, and enable collaboration.

Buildings are becoming increasingly intelligent and efficient through IoT-enablement and other innovative technologies; the smart building market is expected to reach $62m and the smart office market will be nearly $50bn by 2024. While PTC's reputation across the IoT market is largely as a technology provider, the company is taking on the practitioner persona through incorporating this technology within its own walls.

I have been working at PTC full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - truly fabulous benefits. Parties, beautiful office, spontaneous days off, so many benefits and amenities you need to devote at least an hour to make sure you haven't missed any. My boss once devoted half an hour at a staff meeting to review benefits he was n't sure people knew about. We have a ton.
    - I came from academia and another industry. I am mid-career. Never in my career have I met such a range of ferociously talented people. Example I had a presentation to do. I consulted a former broadway performer, a technical wizard who works on the bleeding edge, a person with national-caliber debating and presentation experience, three gifted writer,s and a senior financial person who's an elite age-group athlete. Most people buttress their professional skills with two other sets. One person has years of experience in PR that complements a totally different skill set. When I first started here, a senior person told me "I've never, not once, met a PTC-er who wasn't willing to be helpful." If you value intellectual firepower and want a candy-store of talent, work at PTC. Also, very welcoming to people who are different. I stutter. Not one person has ever made me feel bad or tried to 'help' Yay PTC. I rarely work at home because I don't want to miss anything. I do know that people who need to do (kids, ageing parents, etc.) have freedom to plan with their managers. Email the CEO! He'll write you back.

    Cons

We are meeting centric, but with the new open plan office , you can cut those off by going to see people. Strategy tends to shift, but I am advised this is typical for software companies.

    Advice to Management

Keep up diversity efforts: intellectual approach, race, gender, etc. They're working. Among other things, it makes conversations much more interesting. Talking to people who are just like you is really dull. .

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PTC (Needham, MA) in June 2018.

    Interview

Had an initial phone screening with a talent acquisition specialist. Talked mostly about myself and my career aspirations and to see if I would fit in well with PTC. I then skipped the second round phone interview with a manager and came into the office to meet with three different managers for about 30-45 minutes each.
