Papa Gino's Holdings – Why Work For Us?

ABOUT US
A NEW ENGLAND ORIGINAL

When Michael Valerio’s family emigrated from Italy to Boston, they brought along authentic Italian family recipes handed down through generations. These were the recipes Michael and his wife, Helen, used when they opened their first pizzeria, Piece O' Pizza, in East Boston in 1961. This restaurant soon became known throughout Boston as the place to go for the best, most authentic pizza around.

In 1968, they changed the name to Papa Gino's and started to expand throughout Boston.

Today, you can still get that authentic Italian taste at over 150 Papa Gino's restaurants across New England.

The legacy of our founders is the foundation for everything we do. It’s what drives our commitment to provide the best food, most attentive service, and the cleanest, most convenient restaurants.

OUR PHILOSOPHY: COOK LIKE MICHAEL AND HELEN ARE WATCHING

The overall goal of our Management Training Program is to provide management candidates with enough information, experience and practice to become a successful leader capable of supervising restaurant operations. The five-week entry-level program covers a wide variety of learning areas, exposing individuals to all details of the business at a pace determined by the learner’s experience and motivation.

At the conclusion of the five-week program, an Individual Management Development Plan will be completed based on your specific needs and strengths. This will be the foundation for your continued growth as a leader.

We further support our Managers through a series of hands-on training workshops to help meet the demands of increasing responsibility. These programs are designed to assist in the areas of leadership and restaurant financials, along with recruiting, interviewing and selecting hourly team members. We also offer certified courses in CPR and Sanitation. Our goal is to provide the best training in the industry, and as the needs of our management change, so do the courses we offer.

At Papa Gino's, there are no limits to your success or career advancement. I have been working at Papa Gino's Holdings full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Was able to work my way up to a General Manager positions. Much better growth than other companies I have worked for in the past. There is no favoritism, just a checkbox of things to complete before getting promoted. If you do the work, you will be promoted.

    Cons

Many long time customers that can be needy but if you give them a smile they will forgive anything.

    Application

I applied online. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Papa Gino's Holdings (North Andover Center, MA) in November 2016.

    Interview

There were 3 interview processes. First met with an area manager for the past education and experience, and then met with a district manager for the offer and what to expect, and then the training how to make pizza and running the store.
