  • COVID-19

As an active partner in the dental and animal health supply chain, we are closely monitoring the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak with our main goal of keeping our employees and our customers safe. We have comprehensive business continuity plans in place that include all our North American and U.K. operations. Learn more about these plans in a letter from our President and Chief Executive Officer Mark Walchirk.

  • The Patterson Foundation recently announced $105,046 in Q1 grant funding to 10 nonprofit organizations in the oral health and animal health fields. These organizations were selected based on their value to the community and the importance of their continued operations and functions during the COVID-19 pandemic. “This quarter was different than others, as we really wanted to focus on organizations that needed help during the pandemic,” said Lindsay Stewart, senior Foundation manager. “It’s important that the emergency procedures these nonprofits provide to underprivileged individuals continue to be available during this time.”

Patterson Foundation

Our Community

Each year, Patterson supports nonprofit organizations by providing resources – both financial support and employee time and talents – to organizations that increase access to oral health and enhance the quality of life for humans and animals in our local communities.

Patterson employees receive Volunteer Time Off (VTO) to volunteer with local non-profit organizations. And, the Patterson Foundation encourages and supports the passions of its employees outside of work through its Dollars for Doers program by donating $100 per employee to the organization for which they volunteered.

Patterson Foundation

The Patterson Foundation was founded by Patterson employees in 2000 and has donated millions of dollars to oral and animal health nonprofit organizations. The Patterson Foundation awards post-secondary scholarships to Patterson employees’ dependents and makes quarterly grants to organizations in the oral and animal health field, with a preference to organizations that our employees volunteer and value in their communities.

• $13.5 million given since inception

• 1,326 scholarships awarded

• 185 nonprofits supported

Go Green:  Advancing Sustainability Responsibly

One of our core values here at Patterson is that we are Always Advancing. One of the ways we are living this value at the Corporate office in Minnesota is with the launch of our new Go Green initiative. Each year across our four Minnesota locations we use 145,000 disposable cups. That’s 11 miles of cups being sent to the landfill!  Of all the waste we produce at our offices, 50 percent could be composted.

Always Advancing in this arena lead to the new Green initiatives that launched earlier this year. This included a new recycling program at each location, organics composting at our Corporate Office cafeteria, and significantly reducing paper cups in our offices. We’re passionate about the environment and finding new ways to put sustainability front and center in our workplace. The Patterson Technology Center and our team in Greeley, CO are currently working on similar efforts.

I have been working at Patterson Companies full-time (Less than a year)

This is a company that walks their talk and truly cares about people. I have been nothing but impressed, especially during the current pandemic, with the efforts Patterson has taken to keep it's employees safe and secure (financially and otherwise)! Not often will you see executive leadership directly address employees concerns or stand side by side with front line employees as we face a crisis like the present. Moreover, the company also takes care of its customers. Never before have worked for a company that prides itself so much on its trust, integrity, and relationship with its customers.

As Patterson is always advancing, there are still a number of processes and tools and resources that we rely on everyday that could be improved, but what is important is that the company knows where these opportunities are and is investing in improvements in the future.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. Even as the company continues to grow, don't lose sight of the culture, the passion, and the genuineness that you bring. It is inspiring and empowering
