Our history

Pepper Construction was founded in 1927 by Stanley F. Pepper, whose original vision has inspired nearly a century of growth. Headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, we were part of the generation that helped build one of the world’s most iconic cities with unparalleled vision for projects such as Sidney & Lois Eskenazi Hospital and Health, Marshall Fields and the Shedd Oceanarium.

From the beginning, we have remained on the forefront of new markets and methods, leading the industry in sustainable, lean and virtual construction technologies.

Now in our third generation of family leadership, we have expanded to serve a number of locations around the country with comprehensive teams in Illinois, Ohio, and Indiana working in advanced and emerging markets such as healthcare, industrial, manufacturing, data centers, retail, hospitality, interiors and education among others.

    Pepper is a great place to work. I've been at Pepper Indiana for 11 years and have always been impressed with the high caliber of people in our company. I am well supported by senior management. Pepper continues to look for ways to improve our operation and is open to new ideas. Pepper has built a culture of doing things right, even when it's not convenient. I have never felt pressured to cut a corner or do anything less than what is right for the client and our company. I hope to work here until I retire.

    I applied through an employee referral. The process took 2 days. I interviewed at Pepper Construction (Chicago, IL) in April 2011.


    There was a set of interviews one day where the candidates all interviewed with 4 employees seperately. You can then advance to a final round to interview with an executive
