Phone2Action is a fast paced, fast growing, and solid company for anyone looking for a professional journey. I have grown and learned more in the time I've been here than any other point in my life.
The company's heaviest investment, and what differs it from other companies, is in the people. Any conferences, books, classes/courses, or resources I want to advance my knowledge, wether it is in the software field (the team I'm on), or random hobbies/pursuits, the company will readily support.
This idea has translated into an amazing company culture. Every person brings an unique perspective into the company, and I have yet to meet someone that is not willing to share knowledge with me, even if it's on a topic not related to my team's focus.
P2A is also a very transparent and approachable company. Every team member from all levels is told what the company's vision is and the plan to get there. While there's clear management structures, there has never been a time where I felt excluded or powerless from giving input on important decisions. This nurtures a sense of leadership regardless of your position.
As far as the technology goes, we're constantly learning and pushing the edge. No idea is too crazy, there's always a feeling of "we'll figure out the way to code it, or we'll make the way." I have the ability to work on many different projects involving many different APIs/ integrations/ frameworks, so it's cool to say you know/have worked with such technologies. Plus, every single project I've worked on has been deployed, used by our many customers, and showcased by our sales team. Makes it feel like the effort is really worthwhile when you see your product out there like that.
Non-work wise: The office is cool and has a techy vibe. The people are pretty chill, we often all go out to happy hours/dinners and stuff. Every year we throw 2 or more huge parties which are amazing (you've never been to a company party until you've seen a P2A party). Lots of cool events people can go to that the company sponsors, like the Citi open, sports games, nice conferences like F8/CES/Dreamforce. Can also say that the company has a lot of connections with other companies in the area, so you'll get a lot of opportunities to network and meet other professionals in DC/VA and go to events there.
This is a startup so there's a lot of learning involved in setting up the structures needed to support growth. It's a process that's still under way but I can tell any concerns are at least heard.
There's also a lot of work that goes into a startup, so be prepared to be responsive and handle issues quickly. But if you can adapt to changes fast then the life is very rewarding.
Advice to Management
Ramp up the hiring process! I'm amazed of what we do with the staff we have but we could be doing so much more with more bandwidth.
I applied in-person. I interviewed at Phone2Action in September 2017.
HORRIBLE, company says they want to bring you in and then goes dark multiple times. Completely wastes your time and has no clue whats going on. Seems like a good mission but a bad look for quality hires
