Pie Insurance Reviews

Pros
Here's my deep dive into life at Pie Insurance: Engineering Excellence: The engineering team at Pie strikes a fine balance between innovation and execution. We handle projects that are at the pinnacle of technological advancement, and the dedication to quality ensures that our end-users experience the best of what we offer. Talent Density: One undeniable advantage of working at Pie is the privilege of collaborating with some of the industry's brightest minds. The recruitment standards are lofty, and it's evident in the quality of discussions, brainstorming sessions, and the solutions we produce collectively. Open Communication: Pie's commitment to transparent dialogue is unparalleled. The leadership is not just approachable but actively encourages feedback, engendering trust throughout the company. Through regular town halls, feedback sessions, and open slack channels, every opinion is valued, and there's a tangible drive to act on the insights gathered. Remote-Friendly Culture: A standout benefit is the company's progressive stance on remote work. Pie understands the importance of work-life balance and flexibility. This remote-friendly approach not only enhances productivity but also contributes to employee well-being. Being able to collaborate with my team from anywhere in the country is an incredible advantage that I value immensely.
Cons
During my tenure at Pie, I've found it hard to pinpoint specific cons that have impacted my experience in a negative way. This doesn't mean the company is perfect, but rather that my personal journey here has been positive.

Anonymous Employee in United StatesNo OfferNegative ExperienceAverage InterviewApplicationI applied online. The process took 6 weeks. I interviewed at Pie Insurance (United States) in Aug 2023
Interview
The entire interview process took 6 weeks to complete - one interview per week. The final interview was a case study presentation to a panel of 5 people. After my final interview, I emailed the hiring manager to thank them for the opportunity and looked forward to hearing their decision (in the early part of the week per their information). They never responded or even acknowledged my email. Instead, at the end of the week I received a canned, brush off email from the recruiter to say they selected someone else and wished me the best of luck. No personalization, no feedback, no consideration to the 6 weeks spent interviewing with them; including a week of reviewing engagement survey data and building a presentation based on my recommendations. It was shared with me that the company is focusing on quality hires - which is great - but drawing out the interview process and not being considerate of the candidate experience is not a great way to treat people. Also, I never received the short survey the recruiter said I would get to provide feedback to them nor did they respond to my request for specific feedback on how I could have improved or where I fell short in their expectations. All in all I am glad that I saw this side of the hiring manager (in HR mind you) and the talent acquisition team. Definitely agree with their assessment that we would not be a good match.InterviewAsked to review their employee engagement survey results and to build a presentation with what the data was sharing with me and what my recommendations are based off of it.
