I have been working at Pier 1 Imports part-time (Less than a year)
I started my journey with Pier 1 Imports May of 2015 after applying online. The hiring process took about two weeks. The company maintains comfortable atmosphere, filling the stores with helpful, polite, and energetic managers. I had ordered a clearance item, knowing there was only one left in stock, and another customer beat me to it, so for the order being cancelled I was refunded the money and given a $20 credit. I also recently received $50 in cash rewards for the holidays, which I was not expecting at all. This is an employer who truly appreciates its employees.
The first week or so of training is overwhelming because there is so much to learn, but it's a breeze once you have a good idea of your responsibilities as an associate and get into a routine.
Advice to Management
Be patient with new employees who seem frustrated and close to quitting because it is a lot of information to retain in such a short time.
The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Pier 1 Imports.
Normal interview, got to second over the phone interview, where I was told that DM will be in contact. Did not hear back, had to chase for several weeks via email and phone calls. At this level you think companies and their representatives would have the professionalism to at least give you a call that you didn't get the job. If they are this unprofessional with their prospective candidates, how are they with they employees.
