Pike Corporation – Why Work For Us?

Pike’s history began in 1945, with the entrepreneurial spirit of Floyd S. Pike.

He was determined to start a power line construction company. As Floyd S. Pike’s daughter in-law, Anne Ashburn Pike, wrote in her historical chronology of the Company’s rise, Climbing to the Top, "times were tough at the end of WWII, but a lack of equipment didn’t stop Floyd – he salvaged a truck at the bottom of the inland waterway near Beaufort, NC, got it running, and drove it back to Mount Airy in freezing November weather... with no windshield."

That kind of fortitude led to today’s Pike – a leading Energy Solutions Company – with a renowned reputation for integrity, safety and solutions, throughout the electrical industry. .

Floyd’s restored truck, Old No. 1, as it is affectionately known, is displayed in the lobby at Pike headquarters.

And that entrepreneurial spirit is still going strong, as Pike’s footprint and services continue to evolve with the needs of our clients and their customers.

Pike is your Energy Solutions Company

Pike is one of the largest providers of Energy Solutions in the United States. Our senior management team has more than 150 years combined experience in the electric industry.

We provide engineering, construction and maintenance for distribution and transmission powerlines, substations, Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) projects and renewable energy projects. We are also a recognized leader in storm restoration.

Our clients are investor-owned utilities, electric co-operatives and independent power providers. We are proud of the long-term partnerships we’ve developed with our clients, some of which go back to the early years when our Company was newly formed.

We work hard to be a company where employees are proud to be part of the team, customers trust us, and shareholders want to invest in us.

Since our inception in 1945, we’ve built our reputation on dealing fairly and honestly in our business transactions and relationships.

That legacy is at the core of our company’s culture: We are passionate about our uncompromising Integrity, Safety and Solutions.

Our Code of Conduct and Ethics reflects our commitment to the highest standards of business conduct. Every Pike employee is required to act honorably, with unquestionable integrity, and in full compliance with ethical and legal requirements.

Our Guiding Principles provide direction for our daily interactions, through:

  • Integrity – Investor-owned utilities, electric co-operatives, municipalities and independent power producers rely on Pike to successfully complete large or small scale contracting, for stand-alone and multiple task contracts. We are proud of the long term relationships we continue to build with large scale companies as well as smaller organizations that we have cultivated across our customer base – many of which stand over 40 years.
  • Safety – We promote, instill and reinforce safe practices in everything we do.
  • Solutions – Pike’s leadership strategy and state-of-the-art technologies contribute to operational performance at the top of our industry. From ease of construction and maintenance to reliability, our attention to detail enables us to successfully deliver long term value in all of our Energy Solutions. Our innovative approach provides the sustained results you need, from complex projects to the most basic.

Pike is committed to safety

Safety is paramount in the electrical industry – and at Pike, we take our commitment to safety extremely seriously.

As a full-service EPC company, we’re mindful of the importance of safety in every aspect of our business.

To that end, our leadership team works closely with employees and customers to ensure safety. From education and training, to program audits and safety inspections, we factor safety into every project we engineer and construct.

Pike doesn’t just say we’re committed to a safety culture. We believe in it, instill it, and live by it.

"Impassioned and empowered."

We hear that kind of sentiment a lot from our employees, when they’re asked how they feel about working here. Some of their comments – real words, from real people – are scattered throughout this career section of Pike.com, so you can get a real sense of how it feels to be a part of Pike.

The way we see it, energy availability is one of our country’s most interesting and challenging issues. Access to electrical energy is dependent upon our infrastructure and creating a safe and reliable infrastructure is our business. And our country and your lifestyle are better because of it.

If you want a career planning, designing, building and sustaining something this important, talk to us about joining our team, one of the nations top Energy Solutions Companies.
