12 hour shifts are long for that environment.
Advice to Management
Care about your people. Previous administrations did a much better job of that.
I applied in-person. The process took 5 days. I interviewed at Pinellas County Sheriff in September 2008.
Hiring process very organized and rigid. Structured interview w/panel. Be prepared, read job descriptions, do your research, that will help you score higher in interview. Current climate is difficult due to budget issues. Culture is paramilitary and closed. There is a great disparity between law enforcement officers and support personnell in terms of compensation, treatment etc.
