I worked at Pipeline Software full-time (More than a year)
Interview with the Vice President was interesting. He was full of good ideas and vision. Got the job right away. Their product idea is a good one and that's why they are surviving.
When I was interviewed, the VP was quite impressive with his ideas for going forward and growing the company. However, the reality is that to take the company to the next level, they need someone from outside. These guys don't have the experience to do so. No investment in the employees. Sweat shop mentality and very short sighted goals. Products were usually shipped out bugs and all and then fixed in a fire-fighting mode. One of those companies which sell by lying and making promises they can't fulfill in a timely manner. Once the customer is hooked, there is no turning back. The fact that they have not grown any bigger in so many years since founding is proof enough.
Advice to Management
Pointless... no one is listening.
I have seen their job and software products and services postings for a while in multiple places, indeed, linkedin, network groups, and on twitter so I decided to send my resume in even though I am happy with my current employer. I have never had much luck with companies getting back to me as in most cases applying for positions seems like a black hole. To my surprise within an hour I received a call from their hr. He seem to be very knowledgeable in the Primavera Consulting space and even mentioned a couple of names of others that I know well. I did like that fact that it didn't feel like your typical interview but more along the lines of building a initial relationship and he showed concern for my career path and gave me realistic expectations in proceeding in the interview process. It has been a little time since the first call and I still get follow up calls frequently from him. I just wanted to share this positive experience.
