Technical Account Manager
Being a woman in tech, I only recently started advocating for myself at work about advancement opportunities. Because of this I wanted to ask this question to my male counterparts. When you have 1:1's with your direct reports and talk about career growth / aspirations what is your managers’ response typically? I’d like to gauge how my experience (negative) differs from others. For instance are you met with blockades, enthusiasm, dread, etc?

I applied through an employee referral The process took 1 week. I interviewed at Plus3 IT Systems (Reston, VA) in Feb 2018
InterviewI was referred by a friend that already worked at the company. Not sure if that made a difference in the interview process, but the process was fairly straightforward. I filled an application online and uploaded my resume while mentioning the referral. Within a day, spoke with the Talent Development Manager of the company and worked out the standard details. I then had an hour long phone interview with the technical lead. All kinds of topics were discussed, focused primarily on things that were on my resume. But the conversation was very pleasant and was actually very fun talking about the various technologies we are interested in and what we enjoy doing. The one hour went by so fast and I wanted to just keep talking. I was also able to ask questions to the CTO of the company and got a very good feel for what the company is about. The interview process was very professional and fun, and it really left me with a lot of excitement in wanting to work for the company.
