I applied online. The process took 2 months. I interviewed at Pottery Barn Kids (Lynnfield, MA) in Nov 2021
InterviewSo just imagine you go for an interview and you have an in person nice experience with the manager and the assistant manager, they tell you they are want to get your references and get the paperwork started! they express by that, they are interested in you, your design abilities and your background which is extensive in sales and customer service! It takes three weeks for them to call two references, several emails over 10 go back-and-forth apologizing for the delays for various reasons. Do you think you’re going to work during the holiday season and beyond, which is why you applied. You then get asked for a third reference, even after the first two were excellent, but you give them that ! During the holiday you were able to work 30+ hours but never get called to start! You send emails and call and get no response back but they have called three references and completed a background check on you! You reach out and send an email to corporate, you then give a call right away from the regional manager saying there must’ve been some miscommunication, but there was none no calls were made back to start my position. You were told the store that started all this was going to call to sit are you all up to begin!! The store calls, you go in with I-9 information. All along in two months time never ever was there a mention even though you can work a full weekend and the required 16 hours a week are you told that you have to work two weekdays! As a matter of fact in the interview you are told that that is terrific that you can work weekends, and fill your 15 hour requirement. This is a true story of what happened to me this holiday season 2021. I truly love the pottery barn brand of stores and my Sales career would’ve been a perfect fit, but they not only lead me on, but that I was no longer wanted at the store but discriminated against for possibly my age, 64. This process and inconvenience I went through was unprofessional and discriminatory.
