I have been working at PresenceLearning full-time (More than a year)

Unlimited vacation for exempt employees, generous benefits package, ability to contribute and apply skills, the employees here are some of the brightest people I have ever worked with and feedback is always encouraged and welcomed.

Some departments are valued more than others and it is very apparent to everyone.

    Advice to Management

It's easy to get mystified by roles that generate revenue but don't forget how important the support system is for those revenue generating departments. Teamwork makes the dream work!

    Senior Systems Engineer Interview

    Anonymous Interview Candidate
    No Offer
    Negative Experience
    Easy Interview

The process took 2 weeks. I interviewed at PresenceLearning.

The interview seemed to start out very friendly - one phone screen with the HR, followed by another phone screen from a technical lead. Since both calls went well, I was called onsite. The onsite was a bit weird and overwhelming. There were 2people at a time interviewing me across the table. Many a times it seemed like a disconnect between the two interviewers where they didn't have their questions right or were just not prepared. The interview was just too long and personally I felt I did well.
The response from my interview was an "automated email" generated by the system about my rejection. I felt that as very unprofessional because as a candidate I have taken out personal time to see if the company is a fit for me too. But they didn't have the courtesy to send me a personalized email (takes less than 5mins) to do so, and there was just no feedback. It was a generic rejection email. Upon trying to contact the HR for some feedback which would help me understand the disconnect or even prepare better for the same company again, I never received any response even for courtesy sake.
Seeing that this company works around a "mission" which everyone seemed to advertise around in the interview, I'm very surprised to see a cut-threat behavior from the same people. These people kept saying they serve a purpose and are unlike any other startups. But in all fairness, I've seen profit making startups do a better job at sending me personalized emails of rejection and giving some feedback.
So this company doesn't serve the purpose of their mission - if they cannot even spare time to give adequate feedback on a candidates 5hrs of time for an interview.

    Interview Questions

    • Very basic SQL, one game coding and very basic problem solving - at some point I felt they weren't interested in evaluating me at all because they had another candidate in mind.   Answer Question
