I worked at Prestera Center for mental health (More than 5 years)
Excellent opportunity to learn and grow both professionally and personally in the largest community mental health center in West Virginia. Continuing education and training available to those who want to continue professional learning. A vast range of job opportunities to fit most individuals who want to work with particular populations (Ex: Children, Adolescents, Adults, In home, School based and office structure), which allows flexibility in deciding what fits best for one professionally.
Low pay compared to private industry and lack of support through upper management.
Advice to Management
It is important for those working in the mental health field to have peer and team support. It should be required to have clinical team meetings to discuss tough cases and situations that are happening per department on at least a monthly basis. Cross training and support from upward management would help to build retention and employee satisfaction. It is also important to emphasize clinical certification for those in leadership roles.
I applied online. The process took 1+ week. I interviewed at Prestera Center for mental health.
They really need people in every facility because they don't pay, it was a very short interview, they wanted me because I was available. Drug test, job was mine, regretted it from day one.
