We were excited in 2015 when we ranked 5th in Top Large Company Cultures by Entrepreneur and CultureIQ. Today, we couldn’t be more proud to now be awarded 2nd!
In this series, we spend time getting to know some of the people who make up the Procore culture. Meet Lydia! Lydia is a backend engineer at Procore, where she designs, implements, tests and deploys the code that powers Procore's servers.

We believe in keeping our employees happy—whether that's with the latest tech, catered lunches, dog-friendly offices, or our fitness programs. You'll have the opportunity to work with a great group of people, mentor others, and grow with Procore. Our headquarters is located on the bluffs above the Pacific Ocean in Carpinteria, with growing offices across the United States and internationally.

Build the software that builds the world.
Scalability: We are looking at taking an existing system and scaling from 1M users to 10M users. We know Ruby and Rails can scale and we want to prove that and work with engineers who are ready to take on that challenge. This is a great chance to work on live, core systems with a million users.
Interesting Data Sets: Our insight team is focused on building an entire dash-boarding system and working with terabytes of data and users that go back over 10 years. If areas like big data mining, business intelligence and data visualizations are of interest to you, this is a great opportunity to work on those problems while seeing your work come to life and interfacing with customers.
Processing Millions of Files: We are working on building a world class document and photo file management system from the ground up. If you are interested in challenges like: pdf creation, photo management, permissions and file re visioning, this is the perfect team for you. You will get to work on the complexities that come with disassembling giant blueprint pdf’s, adding markups and call outs and writing it back so everything is unchanged.
We’re Building Our Team. Are you game?
Take ownership of your career inside an award winning organization and a high-producing sales team. Our team of 150+ has driven over 100% growth year-over-year, with negative churn, and unbelievable employee retention. We give you everything you need to kill your numbers, because at Procore, we all work from one scoreboard–revenue.
We’re a fast growing SaaS company, looking for teammates who can throw down, without throwing elbows. We win together. That’s our bottom line. We’re realistic about what it takes to get each teammate into the game to become a high producing contributor. You’ll even find our President or CEO in the bullpen, helping on calls, or throwing around a football (along with some advice).
Numbers are important. But so is having fun and working alongside great people who know how to make hard work, hardly seem like work. Everyone has amenities, we have amazing. The difference? Our people, our culture, and our leadership. We don’t work in cliches. You’ll never hear “can’t” or “impossible.” What you will hear is the sound of deals closing, people celebrating, high-fives slapping, and congratulations being voiced over a buzzing bullpen.
Yeah. It’s that good.
Discover. Drive. Deliver.
Procore Product Managers own the discovery and delivery of winning (needle-moving) products. We work directly with people in construction to understand the industry's changing needs and how we can continue to modernize this field of work. Cloud-based software is relatively new in the construction space, so as a Procore Product Manager, you will often run into industry challenges that need to be addressed for the first time. Our autonomous work culture encourages Product Managers to own the development of our product, and its direction. From client visits to Innovation Labs, we take a user-centric approach to building product at Procore and ship fast, so you know that your work is highly impactful and meaningful.
Collaboration in Motion.
Our teams are organized into small groups referred to as "squads,” consisting of a product manager, engineers, designers, product marketers, and quality assurance engineers. This structure means you'll always have the most valuable resources at your fingertips, allowing your team to solve problems effectively and efficiently. Collaboration is at the center of Product at Procore, whether that’s with your squad, across teams, or with our clients; we depend on each other to accomplish our best work.
Building the World. Impacting an Industry. Changing Lives.
Procore is building the software that builds the world. We do this by working to understand the construction industry's challenges and designing the best solutions. As a result, our customers are able to work more quickly and effectively, leaving more time for the important things in their lives. Procore’s customers are passionate about what they do, so when we provide a service that positively impacts projects, work hours, and communication, we know that what we are doing is changing lives. We're excited about working with the latest tech while creating and shaping products for a rapidly advancing industry and the people that make it all work.
Product Manager Residency Program.
Our Product Manager Resident (PMR) program is packed with learning, development, and mentorship. PMRs can be recent undergraduates, experienced professionals, or anywhere in-between with no direct product management experience. Over a 12-month period, PMRs meet with customers in their native environments, socialize roadmaps with internal and strategy teams, and work daily with UX and Engineering to execute. All PMRs share a passion for building technology products.
I have been working at Procore Technologies full-time (Less than a year)
From the day I started working at Procore, I've felt welcome, engaged, and energized. The work is challenging and fast-paced, but the people and culture make coming to the office something I look forward to everyday. Procore truly lives its values of Ownership, Optimism, and Openness - visible in everything from the frequent and authentic communication from our executives to the positive and supportive attitudes of our employees. I love being be part of a team working to build a product that positively impacts the global construction industry, making it safer, more organized, and more cost effective.
Rapid growth can be a challenge, but Procore is handling it with grace and care. In areas of employee life that can get diluted at scale (e.g. learning and development, company culture), Procore has invested repeatedly. While we are certainly experiencing growing pains at this stage (manager maturity, new systems and process, etc.), I know Procore has what it takes to grow and succeed.
Advice to Management
Continue investing in people, no matter how big we get. When things get challenging, fall back on the values we are built as a True North.
I applied online. I interviewed at Procore Technologies (Carpinteria, CA) in April 2017.
I was contacted by Procore through Hired.com. I talked to the recruiter and she gave a lot of great information about the company and the roles and people they were looking for. After that, I spoke with a director of engineering who I would be working for. We had a talk about my experiences and why I was interested in Procore and how I had heard of them. He gave me more information about how the engineering teams are set up and what they work on. The director was really friendly and put me at ease. It gave me the impression that it's an open, friendly, and kind culture. After that, I moved on to the next step which was a remote pair programming exercise with a senior backend Rails engineer. He also immediately put me at ease so I didn't feel nervous and we worked through the problem together. I didn't really feel like I was being tested at all. Whenever I would get stuck, he never made me feel stupid but gave great suggestions. I ultimately didn't end up solving the problem but it was still really fun and he definitely made me feel reassured that I did a good job talking through the problem.
After that, I moved onto the final step, the on-site. Procore really took care of me- prepared me with lots of information beforehand like who I was going to meet, what my interview day was going to look like, paid for my flight, hotel, all travel expenses.
When I got there, I was given a tour of the campus which is stunning- ocean views, tons of happy, friendly dogs and people. The main interview process was split up into 4 interviews. The first was a panel interview where several members of different roles (frontend, QA, director, engineering manager, and senior backend engineers) were in a conference room and asked me questions about my experience based on my resume. Normally I would be extremely nervous but everyone was so friendly and kind that it felt like we were friends having a conversation. The next round was an architecture-based interview with a pair of engineers, and the round after that was an API-based interview with a pair of engineers. Neither interview involved any actual coding- it was purely discussion with the optional use of a whiteboard. The exercise was actually really fun and I enjoyed it a lot. The final round of the day was with the director where he discussed the core values of Procore and answered any final questions I had. Overall, I walked away feeling comfortable and absolutely loving the culture and people I met. What was especially unique to me was seeing so many women in high leadership positions in engineering which I hadn't seen very much in Silicon Valley and how much Procore invests in, values, and develops each of their employees.
I got an offer bright and early the morning after and accepted it! It was the best company I had interviewed for. They honestly blew the competition out of the water, no pun intended.
